- Michael Potter from Rosebud Victoria.

Here are some of the other entries from the “Win a Dinner for Two competition”…

Always use your credit card where possible for booking any tours or accommodation as most provide insurance and you have a record of what you’ve spent and where. You also can get Fly-buy points for extra rewards! - Gaye | West Melton VIC.

Never ever let your husband pack when going on holidays!!!!!
- Adriana | Berwick VIC

Don’t take too many clothes and things with you so you can buy and bring back goodies with you.
- Eva | Bundaberg QLD

Make sure you not only turn off, but also unplug appliances at home. Large TV’s, computer, stereos etc on standby still use electricity. To save on petrol, fill the car you plan to use on your weekend trip mid week before the weekend.
- Rory | Berwick VIC

When traveling with children on long trips in the car, be prepared! Try to involve the children in trip planning. On rest breaks, give the kids a ball to kick around… it will tire them out and make them less conscious of being cooped up!
Don’t forget, ‘I Spy’. It’s a classic and is undervalued!
And last but not least… my personal favourite… The Quiet Game. The Quiet Game is where the children sit as quietly as possible for as long as possible. The last one to make a noise is the winner!
- Michael | Rosebud West VIC

When on holiday, don’t hold back. Enjoy yourself and try things you usually never would. Even if you embarrass yourself, fear not. You’ll never see those people again!!!!
- Rory | Berwick VIC

When on a driving holiday, always put an esky on the back seat packed with sweet, savory and fruit snacks. The children won’t ever get restless with hunger pains, and the driver won’t have to make unnecessary food stops!
- Effie | Dingley Village VIC

Make sure you check the weather before so you have the right clothes and you can pack lightly.
- Megan | White Rock QLD

A first aid kit comes in very handy.
- Kerry | Modbury Heights SA

Tie a colored ribbon or place a sticker on your luggage to make it easy to spot from a distance and differentiate it from the other similar looking luggage on the baggage carousel.
- Ai-Ling | St Kilda VIC

We love staying at Daylesford in Victoria. It is only a couple of hours from Melbourne, but it feels like ten!
- Kate | Newport VIC

Google before you go!

- Tracy | Bass Highway VIC

Use the one rule, one dress, one jacket, one pair of jeans, one jumper, one skirt, one bra, one singlet, one pair of undies (turn them inside out!)
- Helen | Guilford

Whenever you get samples of washing powder or shampoo and conditioner put them straight into your suitcase.
- Lana | Melbourne VIC
