Miss Marple’s Tearoom

A Whodunit that will keep you coming back for more!
Miss Marple’s Tea rooms in Sassafras, Victoria is one of our favourites! We’ve been going there ever since it opened some twenty years ago. It is a simple concept - take an iconic Agatha Christie character, theme the restaurant around the 1960’s movie adaptation played by Margaret Rutherford, carry the theme through to the menu and back it up with delicious wonderfully presented generous servings, and you have a winning formula. As a testimony to the appeal of the menu it has remained pretty much unchanged since the beginning. If you love comfort food, you’ll fall in love with Miss Marple’s.
This visit one of us went straight for the “The Final Chapter”, Bread and Butter Pudding - Miss Marple’s favourite with cream and ice-cream. The other stuck with tradition enjoying a plate of Miss Marple’s Famous Fingers - half Welsh Rarebit (mature English Cheddar, eggs, Guinness, mustard and spices) and half Smoked Salmon and Capers. As we sipped our tea we pondered how many people work in the kitchen. The service is always fast and efficient - it has to be as there is always someone waiting for a table. Two people! That’s all, only two people in the kitchen - they really have it down to a fine art, and I guess after twenty years you would.

The only downside of Miss Marple’s popularity is the fact that you may have to wait for a table. Don’t fret, there are plenty of interesting shops to explore while you wait, and when they tell you they will have a table in 20 minutes, in our experience they will. We can assure you it is well worth the wait!
