Accommodation Is Expensive In Japan - Right?. . . Wrong!

The Holiday Tips Team stayed at the Toyoko Inn chains and saved a lot money.

How much does it cost?
We paid a total of $90 AUD per night for 2 adults and 1 child, including a traditional Japanese breakfast.

What do you get?
Everything you need. The rooms are small but very clean and well equipped. Rooms are air conditioned, beds are comfortable and the bathroom is a highlight. Not only do you get combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and shoe polishing cloths, you also have the chance to enjoy a National Panasonic toilet. The first time you use one you might let out a “woo” when the directional spray kicks in, but once you get used to it you will be making plans to renovate your bathroom back home.

What About Breakfast?
Free breakfast is included with the accommodation. It’s simple and very traditional. Rice balls, sprinkled with various seaweed, fish and sesame flakes. Miso soup, pickles and tea or coffee. Having been used to a typical western breakfast of cereal and toast, we wondered how we would adapt to this very different breakfast menu. In short, we loved it. In fact we loved it so much that we began to crave it.

We recommend the Toyoko Inn chain as a good value alternative to the typical tourist hotels. The chain caters primarily for business people rather than tourists and hence the more reasonable prices. If you would like to learn more about Toyoko Inns visit their website.
